Shakewell is seating our outdoor patio & indoors at 50% capacity.

We are NOT currently taking reservations, seating is first come first serve.

We are not seating parties larger than 6ppl.

SHAKEWELL

Oakland’s favorite spot for Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine is bright and welcoming boasting the best of the season.

Chef Jen Biesty and GM Tim Nugent designed Shakewell to be Medi-chic with Moorish accents, using reclaimed wood and organic elements. Warm service in a fun, casual dining room.

Shakewell is known for its handcrafted cocktails, tapas style small plates and the wood-fired oven that turns out the fabulous Bomba rice paellas, flatbreads, and whole roasted fish.

The menus are designed for sharing with friends and family or sometimes the friend you just made at the table next to you. Buen provecho!

Jen Biesty

Chef & Co-owner 

A native of Brooklyn and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, Jen Biesty has worked in top restaurants around the world, including New York, New Orleans, London and San Francisco. In 2007, she was named a Rising Star by Star Chefs. Over the years, she has competed on Bravo’s Top Chef and Food Network’s Beat Bobby Flay. Most recently, she was the winning chef on Food Network’s Chopped.

Tim Nugent

General Manager & co-owner

Originally from Vermont, Tim Nugent started his culinary career on the West Coast at Fresh Cream in Monterey and Acquarello in San Francisco. He transitioned to the world of pastry at Zuni Cafe under Judy Rodger’s guidance, then honed his pastry skills in some of the Bay Area’s top restaurants and hotel kitchens. He competed on Bravo’s Top Chef: Just Desserts before partnering with Chef Biesty to open Shakewell.
